Reflecting on James Salter

Thanks to American Short Fiction for publishing this wonderful reflection on the work of James Salter, who passed away in June. I'm grateful to have my own response to his work included alongside so many fantastic writers. Last fall I was able to meet Salter and his wonderful wife Kay, who was kind enough to take this photograph. Still can't believe he's gone.
